Weekly Update

How far along? 38 weeks (This is it, the last week, only 1 week to go!)

Total weight gain/loss: +30lbs

Sleep: um, ok I guess. Having more difficulty getting comfortable.

Best moment this week: Celebrating Jacob’s 1st Birthday!

Movement: Slowing down a little, maybe. I am looking lopsided most of the time. Of course she moves the most when I am laying down trying to sleep

Food cravings:  ice cream, chocolate, pop, fruit

Gender: It's a GIRL!

Belly Button in or out? Out, but getting a bit flatter

What I miss: being able to walk or move much without pain (ligament pain, pelvic pain…)

What I am looking forward to: Holding our little girl next Tuesday!  Seems quite surreal that there is a little human inside and will soon be on the outside.  That in just 1 week, we will be bringing our little girl home.   Just weird!

Baby Development: She might be around 7lbs, still gaining about 1/2lb per week and might be about 20inches long (though probably shorter, Jacob was only 19in at birth).  The doctor thinks she is going to be bigger than Jacob (6lbs 4oz).  I’ll believe it when I see it.

Not Me! Monday

NotMeMondayButtonV6copy

2nd to last Monday before our new little wonder graces us with her presence.  I am not counting down the days (8) or anything.  I have not totally been in nesting mode, organizing and putting away tiny pink clothes.  Newborn and 0-3mo in the cubbies, 3-6mo and 6mo clothes stacked separately in the closet. Opening packages of newborn diapers to fill the changing table.  Jacob’s too small clothes packed away and next size stacked in his new closet.  Washing bedding and putting together cradles.  Making zucchini bread and meals for the freezer.  And wanting so badly to get the carpets cleaned.  Nope, not nesting at all.

I did not walk into our closet to see Jacob chewing on my flip flop and then walk out pretending not to see it because he was quiet and content while I got ready in the morning.  Not me!  I would never let my child put a dirty shoe in his mouth!  Yuck!

I was not thinking of taking Jacob to get his 1 year pictures taken this week, but will now have to wait because he bonked his head this morning and has a huge bump and bruise right in the middle of his forehead.  Nope!

That’s it.  Check out MckMama’s blog to see what she and everyone has not been up to this past week.

Windows Live Writer

So I've just discovered Windows Live Writer.  It’s a free program from Microsoft for blog writing.  And I do have to say it’s pretty easy.  It just syncs up to your blog so it can get your template and such.  After that, you don’t have to be on-line to write your blog posts.  And it writes them in a Word document format.  Way better than blogger.  No more spacing issues!  Uploading pictures and videos is so easy!  You can cut and paste and move things around so easy, just like in Word.  And it’s free.  I am not just trying to promote Microsoft, but it’s actually a very good tool and I just wanted to let you know incase you didn’t already know, you might want to use it too.  I am using the beta version of the 2011.  I have not used the regular version so I can’t say how that works.  If you want to try it, click here.  Then click download and choose the programs you want to download.  (I also think movie maker is pretty awesome too!  You might want to give that a try also)   Anyway, let me know if you decided to use it/try it and how you like it.

Happy blogging!

Jacob’s One Year Stats

It’s me Jacob again.  I just got back from the doctors today and wanted to give you and update on my status.  I am 19lbs 6oz, which is WAY more that my mom thought I weighed.  I am so close to that 20lbs, I can almost taste it.  I moved up from below the 5th percentile for weight to the 5-10th percentile.  Woo-hoo!  I am also 29inches tall, which continues to put me in the 25th percentile.  I just hope that my little sister doesn’t get dad’s height and I get mom’s.  I also had to get 4 shots which was NO FUN at all!

Not Me! Monday

NotMeMondayButtonV6copy

I do not sometimes sit down on the potty and start thinking about something else and then not remember whether or not I actually went or not.  Not me!  I would never do something as embarrassing as that!

I was not so happy that Jacob ate cake and got it all over himself for his first birthday.  He was not so messy that we just decided to give him a bath after his cake.  Nope!  Not me!

I am not secretly glad there are cupcakes left over from Jacob’s birthday so I can eat them.  Nope!

I am not counting down the days until we meet our little girl.   I am not totally ready to be done being pregnant, even though I have really easy pregnancies.

I am not so proud of myself for already done with thank you cards from a baby shower on Friday and Jacob’s birthday on Saturday.  Nope, not me!

I think that’s it for another Monday.  Feel free to join in on the fun.  You can check out MckMama’s blog to see what she and everyone else has been up too.

One! (Updated)

Hi everyone! It's me, Jacob.

Mom and Dad say it's my 1st birthday today. I guess it's a big deal cause there were lots of people here yesterday and I got to eat cake (Yum!) and open a few presents and I get to write this post. Wow! Mom was almost in tears remembering 1 year ago when I made my presence into this world. She says she can hardly believe I was that tiny baby in all the pictures they took of me that day!

Anyway, enough sappy stuff, here are some pictures from my party:

Even though I am going to be a big brother soon, Mom says I am still pretty little  (I go to the doctor next week to get weighed) and she is wondering when I am going to start growing so I can be tall like Daddy. Patience mom, patience.

I am starting to get pickier about what foods I like and I just spit them out if I don't like it, though mom tries to make me eat it anyway and I try to obey. My favorites are yogurt, applesauce, spaghetti, meatballs in marinara sauce, grapes, bananas, blueberries, anything pureed pretty much, ritz crackers. I am not liking chicken or much grown up foods. I do only have 6 teeth (2 on the bottom, 4 on the top) you know, how much do you expect me to chew. I am sticking with baby foods for now.

I am getting pretty big though. I can walk on my own pretty good, although I can't stand up by myself.  I just need something to pull up on and then I can really go. Cause I can walk now, I can also get into all sorts of good stuff like the kitchen garbage. I can also go up and down the stairs all by myself. I am getting good at turning around to go down and then I can pretty much just slide on my belly all the way down. It's pretty fun. Sometimes I just like to go up and down. Mom says it's a good workout for me and likes it cause it tires me out.  I think I am pretty hot stuff and usually look around to make sure someone is watching me.  And I am sticking closer to Mom these days and always like to be where she is.

Dad is always making me smile and laugh. He just does the silliest things, like jumping up and down, playing peek-a-boo, and swinging me upside down.  Mom makes me laugh too when she says "I'm gonna get you!" I just start cracking up waiting for her to come. Mom says it makes her day.  Mom also says I am becoming quite the “cheese ball".”  Whatever that is.

I am really into "talking" these days. I can say all sorts of cool sounds that sound like dada, kitty cat, Jacob, good, yeah, hi. Dad thinks it's really funny when he says "mama" and I say "dada". Mom and dad have been discussing whether or not I have said my first word yet. Dad says yes "dada", mom says no, I am just making/imitating sounds. I am also really into books. I love turning the pages and looking at the pictures. And I am also into banging my toys together, or on the table or anything to make noise.

I got to go on my first international trip to Canada. It was pretty fun to ride on a boat and a bus. Sitting in a stroller wasn't my favorite but having daddy wear me in the Bjorn was great.

Oh I also got a new car seat. It's pretty cool, but I still have to sit backwards cause I don't weigh enough yet. Mom says I have to get to 20lbs to face forward. I am really looking forward to that day when I get to sit like a big boy!

What else about me…it is all about me right!?  I am just about in12 month clothes.  I usually take 2 naps a day still and sleep about 12 hours at night.  Mom is trying to take away my bottles.  I only get one at night now, which I have overheard her talking about taking that one away too.  I am not sure how I am going to like that.  I am also getting a new room, or so I have heard, I have yet to sleep in there

I am going to be a big brother in just about 2 weeks. Mom says I am going to be a great big brother.   I get to go stay with Grandma and Grandpa for a few days while Mom and Dad are at the hospital.

Victoria

No, this is not what we changed the baby's name too, it's where we went this last weekend.

We found a great deal from groupon (if you don't know what groupon is you better check it out. They have some great deals) for the Victoria Clipper, basically half price. Can't beat that. And it worked out that my retired parents were game for coming along, which made traveling with Jacob so much easier.

We cruised up on Friday morning and came back Sunday night. The weather was great there, mid to upper 80's (yup we missed the 90+ degree Seattle weather again!). The Butchart Gardens were beautiful with so much in bloom. And there was a Dragon Boat Festival going on as well.

Here are some (of the 546) pictures we took:

Weekly Update

How far along? 35 weeks (only 4 weeks to go!)

Total weight gain/loss: +27lbs

Sleep: back to getting up 4-6 times a night to use the bathroom and having much difficulty getting comfortable.

Best moment this week: Doctors appointment today, hearing the heartbeat, hearing everything is progressing normally.

Movement: All the time, starting to poke out at times. Devin was amazed at how much this little one moves. This one is MUCH more active than Jacob was.

Food cravings: water, pop, fruit, cookies

Gender: It's a GIRL!

Belly Button in or out? Out

What I miss: sitting comfortably

What I am looking forward to: Holding our little girl on September 7th, 4 more weeks!

Of interesting note: baby's brain cells are developing at a record breaking pace. Most babies have settled into the head down position by now or will be soon.

Not Me! Monday

I'll just get right to it!....
I did not put my baby down for a morning nap and then put myself down for a morning nap also. And that nap did not last from 10:00 until 12:45. Nope! I did not rest that entire time and wish I could do that everyday. Not me!
I did not step in something wet on the carpet the other night only to notice it was spit-up and I didn't even know Jacob had spit up. Our carpet is not so stained that it was difficult to detect exactly what the wet spot was. Nope, not at our house!
I am definitely not tired of being pregnant and wouldn't mind having the baby tonight. Not me!
I did not enjoy the cooler weather here the last couple days, even the rain. We definitely did not use our air conditioner even though it was cooler. Nope, no way!
That's it for another Monday. Check out Mckmama's blog to see what she and everyone else has not been doing.
