22 Weeks - Our Papaya

Sorry, no more weekly photos. I guess they ran out of fruits and veggies.

This week the baby's senses are developing. Our baby can grab onto things (such as the umbilical cord), perceive light, hear (the loud TV, our voices, stomach gurgling, loud noises) and also taste (whatever I am eating).

I am feeling well and eating like a pregnant woman now. I have gained around ~12lbs so far which is right on track. After the ultrasound, our OB office called and said I have partial placenta previa, which means the placenta is near/touching/over the cervix. I have to have another ultrasound in 8 weeks to see if the placenta moves up.

Here is a picture of my growing belly ~

Not Me! Monday

It' Monday again! Here goes...

I did not hear from the kitchen, "There isn't very much ice cream left", only to see Devin come down with this on his plate

I was not late (not actually late, just the day before it was due) on renewing my dietitian certification, so I wasn't able to go to work today. Day off, so sad.

And I did not throughly enjoy my day off, watching girly movies, lunch with Devin and registering at Target.

21 Weeks - Our Little Banana

This week our little one is practice swallowing by swallowing amniotic fluid every day for hydration, nutrition. The amniotic fluid changes day to day depending on what I eat. That means the baby is getting a taste of - and a taste for - whatever I am eating. Our baby is definitely going to be a chocoholic!! The baby's arm and legs are now in proportion to the rest of the body and getting more coordinated. The neurons are now connected between the brain and muscles and cartilage, which is now turning to bone.

I am feeling those coordinated kicks and movements every day. I just learned today from a nurse friend that I have been having some braxton-hicks. When I lay down at night and my belly feels really tight, that a braxton-hicks. Who knew! I am still feeling great and really starting to look pregnant. Belly picture coming soon.

Recommendations

I have start to do some research on baby products (strollers and cribs). I am finding this all very overwhelming as there about a billion choices out there. So many more choices than just at Babies R Us or Target. How do you pick the right one? Do you just buy something over the internet based on reviews without looking at it? How many strollers do I need? Do I need a jogger and another full size stroller or can I get away with just a jogger and small one the car seat fits into? And cribs, drop down or not drop down? Does anyone have a recommendation on a crib or stroller that they use or maybe wished they had?

Not Me! Monday

Is it Monday already? Where does the weekend go? I guess it's time again for Not Me! Monday.
I definatly did not "share" a Ben & Jerry's Phish Food ice cream with my husband and finished off the container, mostly by myself. No way, I don't eat that much ice cream.
I do not use the excuse "The baby needs it" on a regular basis. What kind of mother would do that, not me.
I did not spend most of Saturday cutting leather to help my sister (who has to make 900 leather passport cases for the Zoo by June) instead of working on unpacking and organizing our house.
And I am not dreading my birthday this week because I am not turning 31. Not me. I am a spring chicken. 31 is so old, I am glad I am not that old.
There you have it, another Not Me! Monday. This was started by MckMama, please continue to pray for baby Stellan who is most likely having heart surgery on Tuesday.

20 week Ultrasound

So we had a doctor appt and then the ultrasound appt today. The doctor said that the size of the baby most often takes after the mother's side rather than the father's side -- which is really good news since the Jenson family has freaking huge babies. No offense Jenson's but I would much prefer to deliver a 6-7lb baby than a 10lb baby.

The ultrasound went well though we were quite bummed when we walked in with a video camcoder and were told it's against policy to record the ultrasound. It was awesome to actually see our little one. As tempting as it was, we held true to waiting to find out the sex, so everybody will have to wait with us. The ultrasound showed the baby was looking good, but the placenta is too low, just over the cervix. The doctor said it was pretty common and 95% of the time the placenta moves up by 40 weeks. If for some reason it does not move up, then I will have to have a c-section. The good news is we get to have another ultrasound in 10 more weeks! This time we are going to do more research into a 3D/4D ultrasound and one we can record.

Here are some pics from today's ultrasound:

20 Weeks! - Our Sweet Cantalope

20 Weeks! I can't believe I am half way. It's gone by fast and I know the second half is going to go even faster and that's fine with me cause I can't wait to meet the little one hold him or her in my arms. This week the baby's, um, parts are developing more. We are having the ultrasound on Friday but we are not going to find out the sex.

The baby is moving around a lot. I can feel it everyday now. I am a little worried that Keri just had a 10 1/2 lb baby. See my family has 6-7lb babies and Devin's family has 9-10lb babies. I really hope the baby takes after my side of the family!

Happy Birthday Max!

Devin's sister, Keri and her husband Ian, just gave birth to their second boy this morning. Max Hunter Schumacher. Max was a little big and a little stubborn in coming out which made for a difficult labor. Max was 10lbs 7oz and 21 inches long.

(The picture isn't the best but it's all we have for now.)
Baby is doing well, Mom is a little sore but doing well.
Congrats Keri, Ian and big brother Alec.

Not Me! Monday.

It's sure been a while and I know you are all missing it so here goes...another Not Me! Monday.

Last week after I cut flowers from our yard and placed them beautifully on our fire place, we did not see a trail of tiny ants leading from the corner of the fireplace up directly to the flowers. We then did not directly proceed to Fred Meyer to get some raid. Nope not us. We have a perfect new house, completely bug free!

While having lunch with my hubby in the Microsoft cafeteria, I did not see 10 guys with hair in ponytails or hair long enough to be in ponytails. 10 guys! Wow.

Yesterday at Easter dinner, I did not hear my sweet little grandmother utter these words "You look like you've gotten wider."

And I have not found that I like the added bonus of maternity pants...you never have to unbutton, just pull down. Makes trips the bathroom much easier.

That's all for this edition of Not Me! Monday.

The wood stove in the family room with flowers from our yard

And my favorite. The chandelier in the dining room.

19 Weeks - Our Little Mango

This week our little wonder weighs about 1/2 pound. I can now feel the baby moving and wiggling once in a while but not consistently. The baby is starting to look like a little human and is getting the white coating on the skin to protect it from the amniotic fluid. Which is a good thing, otherwise the baby will come out looking all wrinkled, like he/she has been in the bath for the last 5 months. Isn't God amazing how he designed us. Even down to the tiny details of a protective coating on our skin so we don't get all wrinkled before we are born. There is just no way these kinds of thing "just happen".

Anyway, I am feeling well. My sister-in-law, who is about to give birth any moment, gave me a few much needed maternity pants and tops. Thanks Keri. It's nice to have more than 1 pair of pants to wear. I have gained 9 lbs to date. I have been eating a lot, but still don't "feel" like eating much but I do anyway and then I find that I eat quite a bit. I think that is about it for this week.

Moving

So everything worked out with our house. We were able to close on the old house yesterday and close on the new house this morning. We were still able to pack up the truck and drive it over to the new house. We slept there last night with our mattress on the floor. Our friends and family are helping us with the official move tomorrow (Saturday). We love our new house! Pics coming soon.

FYI: I won't be able to post much. We are without internet until wednesday. I can't believe how hard it is to live with out it.

Our New House - Almost!

UPDATE: Good news! We are going to close tomorrow. The buyer is signing papers today and we are signing the final papers today at 5:30 so it should close tomorrow. We should still be able to keep all our moving plans and everything. Praise God for working a miracle today with this.

Just when everything seemed to be falling into place with the new house:
Our real estate agent just happened to also be selling the perfect house. The house happens to be owned by a pastor at the church we go to. They only had a limited time to sell the house as his wife is 8mo pregnant. We were able to work with our mortgage agent to make an offer non-contingent on the sale of our house cause the sellers had already been burned once with a contingent sale that didn't sell. We had 3 offers on our house, one that fell through and the one we accepted with the same closing date as the house we are buying so we didn't have to take out a second loan. We locked in at a 4.5% interest rate. We signed all the papers and were set to close 3/31.

But it turns out we didn't close yesterday. Our buyer is having trouble getting funds from the lender. The lender is asking for more documentation. All sounds a bit fishy. Our real estate agent, mortgage agent and escrow have been gotten involved to try and get things sorted out. Now we are in the process of getting a second loan, which we were already pre-approved for so we can go forward with buying our new house. It's all a bit messy and very, very, very stressful. We need some prayer that this will all still work out. We are planning on moving tomorrow and Saturday and think we will still be able to do that but....... please pray.

18 Weeks - Our little Sweet Potato

This week our little one is mastering yawning and hiccupping. Our baby also has unique fingerprints. Amazing. Our little one is also moving quite a bit, rolling, twisting, kicking and punching. I think I even felt it move the other night. Crazy, there really is a baby in there. It's such a surreal thing.

I am feeling well. Little less tired than before. My belly is definitely growing. My one pair of maternity pants are getting lots of use. I went shopping with my sister and Mom, but all the pants were too big. I guess I'll have to get by for a few more weeks. Here is a picture of my belly.
