Project #5

My sister Sidney gave me this hanging photoclip mobile as a baby gift. Since I never got around to printing out pictures of the family and the mobile was sitting on a shelf, I came up with this idea.

"How Can I Keep From Singing"

My life flows on in endless song
Above earth's lamentation
I hear the sweet
The far-off hymn
That hails a new creation

Through all the tumult and the strife
I hear the music ringing;
It finds an ech0
In my soul--
How can I keep from singing?

The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart,
A fountain ever springing;
All things are mine
Since I am His--
How can I keep from singing?

Since Christ is Lord
Of heaven and earth,

How can I keep from singing?

Merry Christmas!

4 Months

Hi all. This is Jacob. Mom said since I was getting to be such a big boy, I could write my own 4 month birthday post. Isn't my mom the best!

Lets see where to start. I guess the newest thing I am doing these days is sucking my thumb. I finally figured out how to stick it out and get it in my mouth. It tastes so good, I just want to suck on it all the time. I get so mad when I wake up in the morning or from a nap and my arms are stuck down in my miracle wrap and I can't get my thumb into my mouth. I hate that and I let them know it! The other new thing I am doing is squealing/screaming. It is so great to make myself heard. It's funny anytime I make a noise all the big people crowd around and make funny faces as me. I am still trying to master the rolling over thing. That is hard work. I have rolled over from front to back a few times but I never do it for the camera. I am pretty close to rolling over from back to front, so look out for that video, if mom and dad can catch it, that is. My most favorite thing these days is standing up. I love standing up and looking around at everything. I am pretty proud of myself cause I am pretty strong and I think I am pretty hot stuff. I can hold myself up pretty good, of course a big person has to be holding on to me too. I am also really into looking around at everything. Doesn't matter what, could be the TV (I really like watching TV) or a colored blanket or the ceiling. They are all pretty interesting to me. The one game I really like, I call spit up on mommy. I try to get her with spit up every time she picks me up. Spit up on her shoulder, down her shirt, on her leg, over the shoulder, wherever, and I especially try to miss the burp cloth. I try to mix it up, keeps mom on her toes. She always says "Oh man! You little rascal" She must like it cause she always says "Again!" All this talking, rolling, spitting up is tiring and I still like to sleep a lot. Mom says she and Dad are very blessed. I sleep all through the night and then take a 2 or 3 naps during the day. It's like they say, "play hard, sleep hard."

I just had a doctor's check-up yesterday and I now weigh 13lbs 6oz and am 24inches tall. Wow am I growing, although I am kind of on the shrimpy side. I am just about in the 25th %tile for weight and length. (Mommy says it's a good thing I don't know what shrimpy means, she doesn't want me getting a complex. What's a complex?) But mom always says how big I am getting and reminisces about the days when I was so small. I also had to get two shots, but I was really brave and only cried for the first one. Mom was really proud of me.

Merry Christmas everyone. (I for one am every excited. Mom and Dad said I have been very good this year!)

Not Me! Monday

It's been awhile...I have not been too lazy to write a Not Me! Monday post...

After nursing Jacob during MOPS, he is did not have a very loud burp while the speaker was talking and everyone looked at us. He then did not spit up a huge amount which did not run down both side of the burp cloth I was holding up to his chin, all over my leg and on the chair which of course then did not run into my seat. It definitely did not feel like I wet my pants and I was not hoping that no one would notice the seat of my pants all wet. Then because I already had plans for shopping, I did not continue wearing the same pants for the rest of the day hoping that the dried spit up on my seat couldn't be seen.

I did not stick my almost 4mo baby in front of the TV (with a baby Einstein DVD) to occupy him as I made cinnamon rolls. Not me! I would never let my under 2yr old baby watch TV as recommended by the American Pediatric Association. Nope.
As I picked up Jacob from his carseat, I did not put my hand on his soaking wet leg, only to find out it wasn't pee. Ew! Not me.

I did not stand my baby up against the couch to take holiday pictures of his back side. I certainly did not continue to take pictures as he fell over on to the couch.

Santa

Santa Clause or St. Nicolas. I have been thinking lately about what we will teach our son about Santa. I have read many different view points regarding Santa or no Santa for a Christian Christmas. I read this about Santa and I think it kind of sums what we will teach about Santa to our children:

"The true story of Santa Claus begins with Nicholas, who was born during the third century in the village of Patara. At the time the area was Greek and is now on the southern coast of Turkey. His wealthy parents, who raised him to be a devout Christian, diet in an epidemic while Nicholas was still young. Obeying Jesus' words to "sell what you own and give the money to the poor," Nicholas used his whole inheritance to assist the needy, the sick and the suffering. He dedicated his life to serving God and was made Bishop of Myra while still a young man. Bishop Nicholas became known throughout the land for his generosity to those in need, his love for children, and his concern for sailors and ships. Under the Roman Emperor Diocletian, who ruthlessly persecuted Christians, Bishop Nicholas suffered for his faith, was exiled and imprisoned."

So yeah, we will be teaching our children about Santa, having their picture taken with Santa and also "being" Santa to those in need. One of the traditions I want to start (I was too late this year) is to "adopt a family."

Christmas is about celebrating Jesus miraculous birth and the joy in giving to others as He has given to us.

Art By Fire

Last week, Devin and I, continued our new tradition (2nd annual) ornament making at Art By Fire. It's a glass blowing studio and every month or so they open up the studio for people to come in and do a project. This month they were making glass ornaments. It only takes 15-20min and they help you through the entire thing, but it's still fun. You get to pick the colors, put it in the fire, blow it, crimp it off and a couple days later you get to pick it up and put it on your tree. My grandparents came down to babysit and Devin and I got to go out. (it was a big night of Art by Fire and then Costco. Woohoo) Here are some pics from our ornament making:

Not Me! Monday

Not me! Monday... I'm back. At least for this Monday. :)
I have not just been lazy and haven't posted Not me Monday's for a a few Monday's.
I did not pop a zit on my hubby's back and it most certainly did not squirt on my face! EW! No way. That is just gross. Not me!
I did not scream when I pulled the mail out of the box and a spider fell on my husband leg and it started crawling away. Nope, not me!
I did not finally give in and join Facebook. Not me! Not more computer time daily. Nope.
I did not plan on eliminating dairy from my diet to see it would help with Jacob's spitting up, but just can't seem to give it up. Not me. I will do anything/everything for my baby.
I guess that wraps up another Not me! Monday. Feel free to join in. Check out MckMama's blog for details and to see what she and others have not been up to.
