A Corn Maze

A few weeks ago we stopped by a little corn maze/pumpkin patch that is across the street from our house.

Random Thoughts

- We are still alive here

-We are still potty training which is mostly going well, except when I have to clean up the floors three times a day

- Evie is still not walking yet, but she could if she really wanted to

- I have a few picture posts ready but don't want to post them from the iPad since not all of you can see the pictures that way

- We are having our yard/soil tested to see if we can expand/add a new drain field to our septic so we can add onto our house

- I am 28 weeks now and feeling mostly well, waiting to schedule our little ones birthdate and just cooking along

- Yesterday during lunch Jacob says " a tiger, a tiger.". Me playing along says, "is there a tiger in the back yard?". And then I look out the window and see the bobcat strolling by. There was a tiger outside!

Potty Training

We took another go at potty training this week and I was pleasantly surprised at how well Jacob has done.

A week or so ago I checked out a bunch of potty books along with a "kit" from the library (which included 2 potty dvd's, about 8 books, and even a doll and doll potty). We began read the books everyday, Jacob really likes books, and watching the dvd's. At bath time or bed time we would ask if he wanted to try the potty and he would say yes but with no results.

This past Tuesday afternoon I decided to just go for it, no more diapers except at nap, bed and when we went out.

Tuesday: one start on the floor, six times in the potty.

Wednesday: once in the highchair, two starts on the floor, finished on the potty, once outside in undies and pants, once in the potty, one poo on the floor.

Thursday: two start on the floor, finish in the potty, one on the floor, one in the potty, already sitting on it, one in the potty, one poo on the floor.

Friday: once on the floor, six times on the potty, one poo in the potty! Even a few times without any encouragement!

Saturday: six times in the potty, none on the floor, mostly with encouragement. We even went out for a few hours and his diaper was dry upon returning and then went on the potty. No poo's today.

We have doing the bare bottom technique with lots of beverages, potty treats ( pb M&M's) and staying home as much as possible.

I tried to put him in underware today (Saturday) but he didn't want any of it and took them off every time I could get them on him, so not sure how this is going to play out. He still wakes up wet in the morning and after naps and doesn't really want to be bottomless right away.

I know potty training is a long road but I am really proud of my little guy and an so very pleased at how things are going! Maybe, just maybe we will only have two in diapers when the new baby comes!

Oktoberfest

Devin ran in his first 5k run, Oktoberfest in Fremont, Wa. He did great and is looking forward to running in another race soon.
It was a beautiful day, a perfect day for a run. The rain held off and the sun even came out. It was a bit windy and they had a few problems with their signs.

One!

Our baby girl is one today. It's hard to believe that she came into this world a whole year ago. it has been an amazing year. She is still as cute as ever. She looks just like her brother. She smiley and happy except when she is hungry, tired, or has something taken away that she wants, then watch out, tantrum. She is going to give us a run for our money. Drama queen already.

Here is what our little one is up too:

Height: 27.9 inches (15th %tile)
Weight: 18lbs 13oz (20th %tile)
Favorite foods: banana, yogurt, spaghetti, puffs, cheerios, applesauce
Clothes: size 6-12 mo pants, 9 mo onesies, 12 mo shirts
Diapers: size 3
Favorite toys: legos, climbing/ sliding, anything electronic, Jacob, rattles, wipes container, bubbles
Teeth: 3, 2 on the bottom, 1 on the top
Sleeps: 11 hours at night (8pm-7am), naps twice a day of 1-2 hours each
Words: no real words but will copy the sounds for uh-oh, all done, down down down, dadadada, babababa
Signs: copies signs for all done and more
Games: plays peek-a-boo, being thrown onto the bed, and being tipped upside down
Dislikes: anything being taken away from a her, being removed from something she wants

Happy birthday baby girl! We love you so much and can't imagine our lives without you. You bring us such joy.

Our Labor Day Weekend

We spent the beautiful weekend at one of our favorite places, my grandparents house on the beach, Tulare beach. It was gorgeous! We spent a lot of time throwing rocks in the water, running around in the grass, blowing bubbles, swimming in the pool, and getting into Grandma's kitchen.
