28 Weeks - A Peak at Our Little One

The 3rd trimester. I can't believe it's 2/3rds over already and only 1/3rd to go. This week our baby is about 16 inches long and specifically 2lbs and 10oz according to the ultrasound this morning. Our baby is in the 46% percentile for weight. This week our baby's new skill is blinking. Our baby has also started sleeping, getting REM sleep, though he/she seems to be awake and moving around more than not.

The ultrasound this morning showed that the placenta has indeed moved up but it appears not significantly. The radiologist said by a conservative measure the very edge of the placenta is still touching the cervix but it should continue to move up. I will have another ultrasound in about 6 weeks just to check and make sure. Though my doctor said that even now, I would be safe to try a vaginal delivery. Everything with the baby looks good.

For the most part, I am feeling well. I have been having some episodes of feeling very faint. My doctor said it was most likely low blood pressure and to beef up on fluids, though it could be a little bit of a blood sugar issue as well. I also had the blood draw for blood sugar and iron check. I am not sure when I will get the results back from that.

  1. Looks like a baby! I often felt faint and nausious (sp?) too, especially when I layed on my back, I don't know if that's when you feel faint too. I almost fainted during my 4D ultrasound with Mags and almost puked while in labor with her. : ) Can't wait to see baby J. Any updates with names???
